Throughout the last months I have started exploring the startup environment from a new angle. November has been quite a vibrant month, I had the chance to sit and have an individual chat with nine startuppers or future entrepreneurs.
My first motivation for engaging in the process was simple, I love developing new ideas and businesses. A fire sets in me when I have the opportunity to apply my strategy and business development skills. Then, more than before, my understanding of the underlying reasons for me to support startups are getting exposed. Empowering young professionals to create, build from scratch an organization, is such a powerful feeling. The kind of fulfillment you think about when you picture your dream job. It is going to be a long way, from here to the realization of my perfect company. Today tough, I feel miles closer.
I have had the chance to develop my own skills in works and institutions that supported my personal development. Now I have the opportunity to give back, and it feels nice. From the startup point of view I have received much help and mentoring at the beginning of my journey, from professionals, colleagues, friends and students. Now I am in a position where I can start to give something back to the environment that forged my current business.
All this happened in the context of highs and lows to which I am exposed in my daily life. It is hard to go through these steps, but as a clever young entrepreneur told me: “startups are dirty business”. He could not be more right. In the pile of sh*t where I, and many others, have to dig every day, diamonds exist. More often than you can remember, you found some. Quicker that you can imagine, you will find the next, and you will feel blessed.
